Hee, no surprise to find great division among horror fanatics, whatever the film or franchise, hot debate - even furious anger - can be found. FD5 has unsurprisingly garnered mixed reactions, but even allowing for the fact that as an idea it's a series that can't get better, part 5 is a considerable step up from the very poor part 4. It also boasts a neat trick of the tail, where some ingenuity is used to bring the series full circle, with a glint in the eye and a bloody tongue in the cheek.
Once again the opening and closing credit sequences are superb, doffing its cap to what is undoubtedly a very popular horror franchise. The disaster that underpins the formula is one of the best to be staged, a mighty bridge collapse that terrifies and thrills in equal measure. Then of course it's same old same old, which you would think anyone venturing into watch would expect anyway. Acting is as usual mixed, but the deaths are up to the ingenious standard set throughout all the other films, and then a narrative twist at the finale arrives to seal the deal for a rollicking good time. We even get a welcome return of Tony Todd - Bonus! If it proves to be the final Final Destination then it's a fitting closure, because there is thought here. Anyone taking on another will have to come up with a whole new idea to appease the horror hordes.
Enough Now. 7.5/10 ***One of the best of the franchise, if not THE best***
The first "Final Destination" movie in 2000 was a rather innovative 'Dead Teenager Movie' in that the killer was Death itself, an invisible spirit. A group of people, mostly youths, escape a great tragedy due to a premonition of one of them and the rest of the movie involves the Grim Reaper systematically slaying the kids who cheated Death in various creative ways, usually an unlikely chain of events. The opening tragedy in the first film was a plane crash, in the second a highway pile-up, in the third a rollercoaster mishap, in the fourth a racetrack calamity. In this fifth and most recent film (2011) it’s a spectacular bridge collapse and it’s probably the best opening tragedy of the franchise.
All of the movies in the series tell the same basic story with different characters and minor nuances; all of them are of the same high quality of technical filmmaking. Whether you prefer one or another depends on your preference for cast members and the death sequences (and the locations). Other than these factors they're all basically the same.
"Final Destination 5" features Nicholas D'Agosto as the main protagonist with Emma Bell as his blonde girlfriend. Tom Cruise lookalike, Miles Fisher, is also on hand while Ellen Wroe plays the gymnast. Meanwhile Tony Todd returns as the creepy coroner who seems to know more about the situation than he should.
While it’s true that you know exactly how this film will play out if you've seen the first four installments, or any of them, there are some highlights beyond the females. For one, this movie has a superb score and soundtrack, at least on par with the previous installment. Aside from featuring the most thrilling opening tragedy, there are several creative death scenes involving a gymnast accident, an Asian spa, eye surgery, a factory mishap and a restaurant altercation. This entry also throws in a unique twist that I’m not going to give away (but if you’ve seen the trailer you already know what it is). There’s an additional surprise at the end, which nicely wraps up the five-movie franchise.
The film runs 92 minutes and, like the first three films, was shot in the Vancouver area (the fourth film was shot in the East).

The Austrian thriller-drama, is going to contend with another nearly 100 movies from the different countries for the upcoming (2016) American Academy Awards. I hope it will make into the final shortlist and my wishes to the cast and the crew. A minimal cast movie, set in an isolated lake house where the 9 years old twin boys and their mother lives. After their mother returning from the major facial surgery, the brothers doubts is she's the same person. They have no choice, but have to go for an unusual route to find out the truth.
Initially it was very slow, but keeps accelerating since the beginning of the second half and it ends strongly. You have to be an open minded, that is very important especially for this movie. Try to understand what it delivers than what you want see. I mean prediction is okay, but don't assume in a wider aspect. The narration was so simple and you may think the end is so cliche, but the movie does not bother to provide a surprise. Before going to talk about the twist, you have clear a couple of things.
The first question you have to answer yourself is what is 'horror' mean to you. The demons? The ghosts? Other creepy creatures? The zombies? Possession and exorcism? Haunted places and objects? Imposter? You know 'terror' is also called 'horror', which is a very close to the 'thriller' than being an actual 'horror'. Different movies explain in a different way, but this movie is not that distinctive from those, except being unconventional in revealing the details related to the story and characters.

This film had a few diversions in the name of the genre. That is the reason why it failed to satisfy the horror fans, but so much better without mentioning that around. You have to be careful from the beginning itself, observing closely every scene. Because the storytelling commences with a hint within the first 10 minutes which is equivalent to the twist. You must get it right, or the rest of the narration won't be interesting enough.
So it is a one time shot, for the second time watch it won't be that effective. Some people deny the casual twist that comes in the first act which is too early for them and so they expects one in the final section only to get disappointed. Nothing wrong with the audience getting annoyed, but the film being atypical, just changing the order of all the three acts, that's it. The writer wanted the viewers to keep guessing throughout the their watch. That's the twist in the filmmaking, not in the actual film. Other than that it was not a smartest movie with the turnovers to amaze or confuse you.
I mean it has a proper conclusion, and you would know what it is, but should have to wait for how it's going to take place. I have seen many guys criticising that part particularly, but I felt it was good and made the movie a better product. Definitely one of the best films of the year, especially in my perception. From the posters to the trailer and teaser to the movie, it was being truthful. Never intend to cheat you, except like I said if you assume the things to happen in your way. Specially a big NO to the fancy stuffs like graphics and high pitch sudden sound/noise that's very common in horror to scare you. If you are a Hollywood fanatic, you definitely miss those doses and blame the movie.
A great directional debut as well as the twins with the real names on-screen. It got some intense scares, but limits the grossness. Had less dialogues and more in acts. Pretty rare movie and I am surprised that the critics liked this film more than the movie fanatics. But I'm happy that I'm not one of those to dislike it being a movie buff. My only disappointment is the outro scene (the exit scene) (in Hollywood it for kissing) which comes after the conclusion and before the end credit (sometimes, along the credit). I strongly recommend it, and I hope you consider some of the points I wrote in this review, otherwise I barely recommend it.

I went into this film spoiler free, knowing nothing more than the tag line. While it was well acted and well paced for the most part, the twist was heavy handed and obvious from early on. Maybe I would have liked this film more if there was more subtlety to it. A good film should still entertain if you know the twist or not, and for me, guessing it so early just hampered my enjoyment. The denouement was handled well, but the lead up let it down.

When I saw the first film a couple of years ago, I did not think they would make a sequel. It looked kind of a one-off film, but I'm very happy for this and I'm sure there will be another one. There's no mention of 'part 2' in the title, so people might end up watching this without knowing there's one before this. But it's good to name a film according to the plot/story. Those who saw the original will be familiar with the characters and the story narration, so they will know what to and how much to expect.
This is my first film of the 2017. I don't believe in such sentiments, but I think its a great start and hoping to watch many more good ones. Now coming to the film plot, it continued from the previous. After the successful first assignment as a detective, Jay Swan is sent to another small mining town to deal with a missing person case. Seems no ones are happy on his arrival, including the local cop. But his doubts about how the powerful people misusing their power makes a cop named Josh to act instantly.
Almost 2 hour long film, narrated with a slow pace. Thus far of the tale are developed steadily. Since the Josh gets into investigating, the people with illegal business starts to feel the heat. Meanwhile, Jay learns a few things about his people from an old local indigenous man. Josh and Jay, they both make a progress, which leads to a step away to solve the multiple cases. The final quarter turns into an action film and leaves a big open to the story to continue.

That's what I disliked. Being a long film and not able to finish it off properly makes it fall behind quite a bit long distance from the original film. But I still enjoyed it. Those locations were well used to tell the story. In fact, it kind of reminded me another detective film 'Jesse Stone'. The opening scene from this as well, kind of similar, like being drunk while arriving in a new town. Unlike that film, this is not a television film and high quality film from all the aspect. It is also considered one of the best Aussie film of the year. So if you are a film fanatic, you should not miss it.
Directed by the same director and once again he managed the multiple tasks, like handling camera, editing, music and script. Predictable story, but it's not about the story, it's how the story was presented. The actors did help with that part to accomplish what the filmmaker wanted. Aaron Pederson was awesome, and now he's one of my favourites from down under. I hope like all the Aussie actors, he would also get a chance to work in Hollywood projects.
The case was not detailed for us. We learn Jay is working to find the missing girl, but no flashbacks or any other kind of revelations. At some point it gives out the result in a simple, but heart wrecking way. It's more a realistic in revelation going forward than giving hints for the viewers to make predictions. Like I said, it's not as good as the first film, that's only because of the ending. I'm also not sure the same story would continue in the next part.
The way it concluded might not be complete, but it is something different than the usual solution in a cop film. So you have to accept the fact than complaining it. Other than that, I'm sure it is one of the best detective films. The films, both the installments were not internationally recognised so well, but it definitely deserves that honour. It might take years people come to know, though I hope you would check it out after reading this review, only if you haven't seen it yet. Recommended!
